History

Australian Touring Services began operating in February 2002, our growth has been rapid and our client base very impressive. We look for opportunities where we can offer solutions that are smarter, faster, safer and more cost effective. We are pro-active and quick to act, often leaving bigger and more cumbersome organisations in our wake. With over 80 years combined experience within this specialised industry we are able to offer a reliable, professional and personalised service that far exceeds our client's expectations.

People

Three partners with 80 years combined service to the freight industry Phil Duncan, Terry Turner and Chris Nicholson formed Australian Touring Services after recognising the potential to deliver a personalised and more competitive service.
Phil Duncan brings thirty years of hands-on experience in the freight forwarding industry. Phil held the position of Director - Freight Operations for the entertainment logistics division of the Ansett group of Companies, and gained extensive experience in senior management roles with Brambles Transport and the TNT Group. Terry Turner commenced his career in the freight industry in 1976. Terry has performed senior management roles with Columbus Shipping Lines, The TNT Group, The K & S Group, and Brambles Transport. For eight years (Until Feb 2002) Terry was the National Linehaul Manager for the entertainment logistics division of the Ansett group of Companies, he successfully coordinated the majority of the domestic touring in Australia during that period. The tours that Terry considers his highlights include: Big Day Out, 95, 96, 97, 99, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 Livid Festivals 2002, 2003 Bruce Springsteen, The Rising Tour The NRL Roadtrain, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 Robbie Williams, 2001 AC-DC, Stiff Upper Lip AC-DC, Ball Breaker Janet Jackson Kiss and the Melbourne Symphony It is with great sadness that we advise that Terry Turner passed away on January 10th, 2009. Chris Nicholson Chris Nicholson started his career in airfreight in 1975 with the New Zealand army as a loadmaster. He continued his career managing the Road transport/Airfreight business for Freightways International in Auckland. He also went on to perform various management positions within the Mayne Nickless group. From 1993 to Feb 2002, Chris had held the position of National Operations Manager Australia for the entertainment logistics division of the Ansett group of companies as well as successfully managing international projects. Key staff at ATS logistics
Jon Pope brings over 20 years of experience working within the music industry. Jon started in 1980 as a Sound Engineer for local Australian bands and soon progressed to Tour / Production Manager for over 130 international acts, throughout Australia and New Zealand. Jon's wealth of experience really has provided him with an intimate understanding of what is required in all aspects of a tour - to ensure it is a successful tour - from conception to the realisation! The highlights of Jon's career are numerous; here are some: Guns n Roses Madonna Billy Joel (3 tours) Sir Elton John (2 tours) Radiohead (3 tours) Coldplay Robbie Williams Janes Addiction Red Hot Chili Peppers (4 tours)
Jeannine Mulligan joined us in 2004 and brings with her 12 years entertainment industry experience having worked both as an Assistant Accountant for Cameron Mackintosh involved on projects such as Phantom of The Opera, Miss Saigon and the Asian/South African tour of Les Miserable and as Financial Accountant for the Entertainment logistics division of the Ansett Group of Companies. Jeannine’s production accounting experience means that she understands fully the importance of meeting the production deadlines faced in this industry.
